PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC - JULY 9: Prague's historic Charles Bridge celebrated 650 years since its founding July 9, 2007 in Prague, Czech Republic. Legend has it that the first stone was laid at exactly 5:31 in the morning. When the numbers of the year, day, month and time are lined next to each other they form a palindromic number 1 3 4 7 9 7 5 3 1, which was carved into the Old Town bridge tower. It took nearly 50 years to complete the bridge, neither the architect nor the emperer Charles IV lived to see its completion. The bridge marked the first ten years of Charles IV who was of the house of Luxembourg and had a Bohemian mother as well as relations with royalty in German-speaking countries, France as well as Western Europe.
